Murmurs

Starring Aurélia Thierrée

Conceived and directed by Victoria Thierrée Chaplin

with Magnus Jakobsson & Jaime Martinez

Produced in the UK by Crying Out Loud and presented by Southbank Centre. Originally Produced and Toured by Compagnie des Petites Heures.

A tour of whirlwind romance, city confusion, undersea encounters and dining-room debacles told through a blend of theatre, illusion and dance by director and designer Victoria Thierrée Chaplin with Aurélia Thierrée. In this follow-up to the internationally acclaimed Aurélia's Oratorio, Aurélia Thierrée is a woman fleeing from reality, her life packed up in cardboard boxes. Seemingly everyday actions become a spectacle of the strange and beautiful as she becomes immersed in snippets of others’ lives.

For ages eight and over.

As recommended by Time Out
Festive family shows: “Murmurs - this is one for the arty kids: Aurélia Thierrée stars as a woman lost in a strange, crumbling world.”

Time Out Critics’ Choice: “Murmurs – not a dance show as such, but movement is one of the many elements used masterfully in this illusory adventure”

AURÉLIA'S ORATORIO

A remarkable display of stage illusion created especially for and with Aurélia Thierrée, the show draws inspiration from the worlds of music hall, variety and circus to create a concoction of illusion and fantasy.

Aurélia Thierrée has performed as actress and illusionist since early childhood, initially with her parents Jean-Baptiste Thierrée and Victoria Thierrée Chaplin (pioneers of new circus) in the famous Cirque Invisible and Cirque Imaginaire and more recently with Tiger Lillies Circus of Shockheaded Peter fame. Victoria Thierrée Chaplin continues to tour with Cirque Invisible and has also worked with her son James 'La Compagnie du Hanneton' on La Veillée Des Abysses.

"A magical slice of theatrical trickery." Metro

"It is an absolute spellbinder." Daily Telegraph

"It is a bewitching 70 minutes in which the nightmarish and the dreamy meet and disintegrate in a puff of smoke and the whistle of a train." Guardian
